Ubisoft has revealed that they are opening a theme park in 2020. The park will be 10,000 square metres and opening in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Reports say that it will be entirely be indoors and will feature rollercoaster, shows and other attractions all based around properties under their publication. Ubisoft Motion Pictures will have creative control and will be teaming with Malaysian theme park developer RSG to own and operate the park.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures Senior Vice President Jean de Rivières said “Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,”.
Those were all the details that were revealed. In the upcoming years, I expect them to a Raving Rabbids area for the family friendly. Possibly some sort of “animus” experience or an Assassins Creed parkour experience, just like Ubisoft have every year at comic con.
I’m not really sure what has made Ubisoft come up with this idea but it doesn’t seem like a very good one. As popular as their games are, they don’t have any properties that have a huge expansive, immersive universe. I don’t see this being a big success. It will be exactly like Ferrari world. In the news for a year but then forgotten about.
